Woman Run Over By Construction Truck On Upper East Side

Lever & Ecker, PLLC June 19, 2010 Construction Accidents

A construction accident on New York City’s Upper East Side left an elderly woman dead last week – and authorities are still trying to determine why the fatal accident took place.

According to the New York Daily News, a senior woman was walking past a construction site Third Avenue near East 83rd Street at around 9:30 AM when a construction worker backed up a truck into the woman, severely injuring her legs. A doorman who witnessed the NYC construction accident said that the woman’s lower half was seriously mangled, and though emergency responders rushed her to a nearby hospital in critical condition, she later died of her truck accident injuries.

The construction worker who hit the elderly woman was shaken by the accident, remained at the scene, and cooperated with police. At this time, no charges have been pressed and authorities do not believe the driver was negligent at this time.
