Traffic Laws Aren’t Just an Inconvenience: they Save Pedestrians and Drivers

Lever & Ecker, PLLC March 29, 2012 Car Accidents

Traffic laws are put into effect for a reason, and it’s not just to inconvenience drivers or give police officers something to write tickets for. They are to ensure the safety of both pedestrians and drivers on the roads.

Every Monday-Friday from September to June kids are walking to school or taking buses. All drivers and pedestrians need to know the safety laws to prevent school bus accidents so that all accidents are prevented as best as they can be.

Pedestrians have rules they should follow to keep themselves safe but drivers also have rules as well. Drivers need to know they will come in contact with pedestrians at any time and any place. Pedestrians can be hard to see especially during bad weather or at night. It is a good idea that drivers watch out closely so they don’t cause any accidents. If you see a pedestrian in a crosswalk you should come to a complete stop. If other vehicles are stopped for pedestrians do not attempt to pass them. When entering a school zone drivers should be extra careful and look for children.

It seems like there are so many rules when it comes to drivers and pedestrians. But there are many car accidents per year that can be prevented if only people were more careful. Any little distraction will be enough for an accident to occur. Just remember drive slowly and always be aware of people walking.
